We would like to measure how this site is used, so we can work out which questions people actually need answered. That uses Google Analytics, with advertising features switched off and your searches never sent. Nothing loads unless you agree, and everything on the site works exactly the same either way. What we would collect
Choose any two spices and see them point by point: botany, flavour, heat, the compounds behind them, the forms they are sold in, the blends and cuisines that use them, how long they keep and where they are produced. Where SpiceHQ records a relationship between the two — a substitution, a pairing, a written comparison — it is shown first.

What a comparison does not tell you
Similarity on paper is not interchangeability in a pan.
Two spices can share a family, a compound and half their flavour notes and still not stand in for each other, because what a dish needs from a spice is rarely the part they share. So this tool states whether the two profiles agree, row by row, and says a substitution works only where one has been recorded — with its limits, on the substitutes pages. For the pairs people genuinely confuse, a written comparison goes further, and the tool links to it when one exists.
